Driver in deadly Bedford Co. crash pleads guilty to summary offenses, ordered to pay fine
BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — The man charged for his role in a deadly Bedford County crash that claimed the life of a teenager has reportedly pleaded guilty to multiple summary offenses in the case and has been ordered to pay an $850 fine.
Last March, police charged Jeffrey Miles Jr., of State College, following an investigation into a fatal, head-on collision near the intersection of Route 220 and Cumberland Road in Bedford Township in February of 2022.

EAGLE PASS, Texas (TND) — A high-speed chase in Texas led to the arrest of a suspected people smuggler last week, according to video shared by state Department of Public Safety (DPS) spokesperson Chris Olivarez.
Dash camera footage shared via X shows officers chasing down a Mercedes-Benz driven by Roque Flores, who authorities say is from Eagle Pass. Officers barreled after the vehicle down US-277 in Maverick County on May 13, according to Olivarez.
Holiday model train display returns in Altoona
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — The Altoona Model Train Museum Association has once again opened its doors to the public to view their massive model Christmas train platform.
The display consists of well over 1,000 separate pieces.
The train display is only available for viewing during the operating hours of Holiday Lights on the Lake, which are nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., from now through January 7th.
Admission to view the trains is free.
Medics treat children after elementary student brings marijuana edibles to school
ALGODONES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Bernalillo Public Schools in New Mexico are investigating after a student brought edible THC infused candies to Algodones Elementary School and shared them with 14 other students.
Algodones is located north of Albuquerque.
Bernalillo Public Schools made an announcement about the incident on Facebook on Monday.
The students were evaluated and supervised by medical personnel, according to the post.
The district is collaborating with medical personnel and law enforcement to investigate.
AASD schedules 'home learning day' so teachers, school staff can get vaccinated
ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — Altoona Area School District students will participate in a "home learning day" next Thursday to allow the district's teachers and staff to get vaccinated.
The district says that all assignments will be online, and students will not receive any live instruction.
School officials add that face-to-face instructions will resume on Friday, March 19.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — "The Adventures of Hopalot" is a story about a bunny that lost his way in the woods and is trying to make his way back home. He meets a lot of creatures along the way but finds out that not everything is as it seems.
Author Kristin Boyers started this series after having a valve replacement. She felt the need to do something that mattered and hopes to inspire kids by sharing her traumatic past and showing them that positivity and healing can grow out of dark places.

PennDOT issues announcement on Centre County construction project
PennDOT made a major announcement on a major road construction project in Centre County.
As part of the ongoing process to determine the new path for Route 322 between Boalsburg and Potters Mills, PennDOT initially also included what it termed a “Route 45 connector project” to possibly direct more Route 322 traffic to Route 45. PennDOT now says the Route 45 connector idea is dropped. Instead, they'll spend $3 million on a separate study on upgrading Route 45 safety issues in Harris and Potter Townships.
Teacher who called parent N-word in parking lot resigns
UPPER DARBY, Pa. (AP) — A white Pennsylvania teacher who was captured on video calling a black parent the N-word following a fender bender has resigned.
The Upper Darby school board on Tuesday voted unanimously to accept Drexel Middle School teacher Renee Greeley's resignation, effective Oct. 17.
Greeley was placed on administrative leave after parent Rasheed Noel posted video on Oct. 10 of the minor car accident in the school parking lot.
