PA Hazmat Training and Education Conference celebrates 30th anniversary
Friday marked the third day of the30th anniversary PA Hazmat Training and Education Conference.
Emergency responders from all fields gathered to learn about different hazmat situations and how to deal with them.
“Hazardous materials incidents don’t happen very often," said Chris Tantlinger, president of the Pennsylvania Association of Hazardous Materials. "We need very highly trained individuals to understand the properties of chemicals and hazards so our training and learning conference helps us to understand those better from people that may have had to respond or coordinate a response.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs accused of sexual assault by another woman
(TND) — Another woman is accusing Sean "Diddy" Combs of sexual assault in a new lawsuit filed on Thursday. Documents obtained by CNN report April Lampros met the rapper in 1994 when she was a student at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology and accuses Combs of sexually assaulting her four times between the mid-1990s and early 2000s. The complaint further accuses him of battery, assault, negligent infliction of emotional distress and violation of the victims of gender-motivated violence protection law.
Valve issue on rocket leads to Boeing calling off its 1st astronaut launch
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Boeing called off its first astronaut launch because of a valve problem on the rocket Monday night.
The two NASA test pilots had just strapped into Boeing’s Starliner capsule when the countdown was halted, just two hours before the planned liftoff. A United Launch Alliance engineer, Dillon Rice, said the issue involved an oxygen relief valve on the upper stage of the company's Atlas rocket.
'You better not snitch!' Portage woman showed pornography videos to two juveniles, police say
Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say a Portage woman is behind bars following an investigation into allegations that she showed pornography videos to two juveniles.
Police say in October, officers with the Portage Borough Police Department were contacted by the parents of the two juveniles, who claimed that 33-year-old Christina Aponte had allegedly showed pornography to their children.

Apartment complex under construction in Las Vegas total loss after massive fire
Las Vegas (KSNV) — An apartment complex under construction in Las Vegas is a total loss after a massive fire in the southwest valley, the Clark County Fire Department said.
Crews were at the scene Wednesday morning continuing to extinguish flames. Firefighters were seen spraying water on the building, with some small flames still visible.

State provides new guidance for schools amid COVID-19
Clearfield, PA — Under the new guidance, the state is recommending that elementary schools in the substantial level of transmission allow their students to return for hybrid or blended instruction starting on Jan 25th.
But according to Dr. Thomas Lesniewski, Superintendent of the Punxsutawney Area School District, this new guidance does not impact them.
“It has no effect on our school district whatsoever, we’ve been face to face K-12 following all of the Department of Health and CDC guidelines,"
Two children killed in early morning fire in Delaware County
Upper Darby Township, PA — Authorities say two children were killed in an early morning house fire in Upper Darby, Delaware County.
According to Fire Chief Derrick Sawyer, the fire began at about 4:03 a.m., at a residence along the 300 block of Margate Road.
Officials say when crews arrived, they encountered heavy fire on the second floor of the home.
Two children were killed in the fire, Sawyer said.
Local pharmacy chain vaccinates thousands, plans clinic openings
CRESSON, Pa. (WJAC) – Pharmacists at Mainline Pharmacy stores throughout the region see this as their time to shine.
Their task, helping administer a live-saving vaccine as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“We’ve given almost 2000 doses so far,” said John Pastorek, pharmacist at Mainline Pharmacy in Blairsville.
Pastorek said most of the company’s doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine have gone to long-term care facilities and healthcare workers outside of a general healthcare system.
