Training accident shooting death of Ohio corrections officer ruled a homicide: autopsy
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — There are new developments in the investigation into the accidental shooting death of an Ohio corrections officer.
After weeks of waiting, WSYX received a copy of the autopsy report for Lt. Rodney Osborne. He was shot and killed on April 9 during a training accident at the corrections facility in Orient.
The report breaks down several important points:
Osborne took a bullet to the chest, causing serious injuries to his ribs and right lung.
Bedford Co. man charged after being witnessed shooting, killing cat with pellet gun
Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County say a Riddlesburg man is facing charges of animal cruelty after another man allegedly witnessed him shooting and killing a woman's cat with a pellet gun.
According to the affidavit, troopers were dispatched to a residence along Paris Road, in Broad Top Township, in December to investigate an alleged animal cruelty complaint.
Troopers say the woman reported that one of her cats had been shot and killed by 35-year-old Shane Rickabaugh.
Carson Briere apologizes for pushing wheelchair down stairs
The son of Philadelphia Flyers interim general manager Danny Briere has apologized after a video posted on social media showed him pushing an empty wheelchair down a staircase.
Mercyhurst University hockey player Carson Briere issued his apology in a statement released Wednesday by the NHL’s Flyers.

Delta Airlines to suspend service at University Park Airport
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Officials with Delta Airlines announced Monday that the company is planning to suspend its services at the University Park Airport, citing staffing shortages.
Beginning June 5th, Delta will no longer fly in or out of University Park Airport due to a lack of available pilots and crew members, according to a press release.

Parents raise concerns over use of P.A.S.S. survey in schools
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — A recent student survey in the Westmont Hilltop School District has some parents asking questions.
The district says the survey is designed to get information on students’ attitudes about their school and classroom work, but some parents want more transparency on what’s being asked and what is being done with the data.
On Tuesday, parents received a letter informing them of their child's participation in a brief survey to assist the district in uncovering and addressing the social and emotional barrier that affects the wellbeing of the students.
Penn State to resume in-person classes for part of fall semester
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — Penn State has announced they will resume in-person classes for part of the fall semester before returning to all distance learning around Thanksgiving.
The fall semester will begin Monday, Aug. 24, but campus-based, residential instruction will end Friday, Nov. 20, with the remainder of the semester — including final exams — being delivered remotely and online when classes resume after Thanksgiving break on Nov. 30, according to a release from Penn State.

DETROIT, Mich. (WWMT) — A judge is getting ready to consider all evidence made available to the court at Ethan Crumbley's Miller hearing scheduled for Thursday.
Officials say Crumbley was 15 years old at the time of the Oxford High School shooting in Michigan on Nov. 30, 2021, that killed Madisyn Baldwin, Tate Myre, Hana St. Juliana and Justin Shilling, and injured seven others.
