RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A popular restaurant suddenly closed its doors on Monday.

Now, many employees at Ryan's restaurant are out of work and told us they weren't given any notice about the closing.

Some employees said they were left in the dark about the restaurant closing and had no idea until they showed up for work this morning at the location on Galleria Drive.

The doors were locked with a closed sign on the door.

"I was there last night -- I closed - and they didn't say a word to us," said Trista Miller, who is eight months pregnant and worked a 13-hour shift on Sunday. "They made it seem like we will see ya tomorrow."

No reason for the sudden closing of the restaurant was given, although many Ryan's have closed in the past few months.

In early December, the nearby Ponderosa restaurant in Richland Township also closed.

Ovation Brands, manager of the Ryan properties and also known as Buffets LLC, recently filed for bankruptcy protection.

"That's all I've been hearing is that it was about the lease and they finalized bankruptcy not that long ago," Miller said. "And when they are under bankruptcy and can't pay, the landlord didn't want to re-sign the lease."

Customers also were saddened to learned the news of Ryan's closing.

"We had no idea," Leonard Narehood said. "We were really shocked. We come here quite often. Nobody said a word."

"The other place (Ponderosa) shut down and this place shut down now," said his wife, Regina Narehood. "There will be no place to eat."
