Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they have signed former second-round draft pick Jaylon Smith to the team's practice squad.
The free agent linebacker was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016.
Smith spent five seasons with the Cowboys before signing with the Green Bay Packers.
He has also spent time with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders.
The former Notre Dame product has played in 88 career games, tallying 626 total tackles, 11 sacks, two interceptions and 6 fumble recoveries.
Pittsburgh has been riddled with injuries this year at the inside linebacker position, losing both Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander to season-ending injuries.
Veteran Elandon Roberts has also battled injury this season.
Pittsburgh also recently signed veteran Myles Jack out of retirement due to the team's injury woes.
