HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio (WTOV) — The Harrison County Sheriff's Office in Ohio arrested a Steubenville Catholic Central High School teacher in Cadiz on Friday morning.

Prosecutor Lauren Knight says 21-year-old Corissa McCalister is charged with two counts of sexual battery.

McCalister is in jail on $100,000 bond.

McCalister, also a cross country coach and assistant track coach, has been placed on administrative leave by the school, according to Principal Thomas Costello.

The mother of the alleged victim, a student at the high school, told school officials about the allegations that occurred in Harrison County, according to officials.

Based on the information that has been provided, none of the allegations occurred on school grounds. Sheriff Joe Myers said the main incident occurred March 30 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds after McCalister drove the 15-year-old male student home from a track meet.

“I am deeply saddened by news of the allegations and I offer my prayers for healing for the victim and the victim’s family as well as the Catholic Central school community,” Steubenville Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton said in a release.

A Diocesan Response Team will be reaching out to the alleged victim’s family and the school community to provide support.
