HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. — A Man in Huntingdon County is facing several charges after leading police on a chase after they attempted to serve him outstanding warrants, as well as felony drug charges, police say.
According to a criminal complaint, Tyreek Willis, 31, was approached by police at the Giant store in the Lake Raystown Shopping Plaza Tuesday when he fled the scene with a passenger in the front seat.
State police say several vehicles followed him on to Route 22 after he refused to stop for police, with the patrol cars exceeding 135 mph with Willis far ahead of them.
The criminal complaint states that Willis was driving east in the westbound lane as well as the center turn-only lane.
According to state police, Willis turned off of Route 22 onto Main Street near Smokers Hill Road in Henderson township and ran a stop sign before turning south on to Route 829, continuing to exceed 100 mph.
Police say they were able to catch Willis after boxing him in after he ended up on a dead-end road.
According to the criminal complaint, Willis and the passenger were sitting on top of their buckled seatbelts.
State police say that the passenger told them that, during the pursuit, they feared for their life and asked to be let out of the vehicle several times.
The criminal complaint states that Willis showed signs of impairment and admitted to smoking marijuana before and during the pursuit without having a medical marijuana card, as well as using Percocet and gabapentin prior to the pursuit.
According to state police, it was discovered that Willis was driving on a suspended license.
Court dockets show that Willis is charged with two felony counts of fleeing or evading an officer, recklessly endangering another person, driving while operating on a suspended license, failing to stop at a stop sign, two counts of disregarding a traffic lane, failing to drive at a safe speed, exceeding maximum speed limit by about 77 mph, failing to use a safety belt and driving while under the influence of a controlled substance.
Willis is also facing charges from an undercover investigation that took place from August to October of last year, according to another criminal complaint.
According to state police, they were advised by a confidential informant that Willis was dealing drugs in the Huntingdon County area, and that Willis advised the informant that he could sell him methamphetamine.
State police say that Willis agreed to meet the informant at three different locations during the investigation in order to sell them the drugs.
According to the criminal complaint, Willis was observed on audio and video during the investigation identifying him as the person handing the informant the drugs during the controlled buy.
Court dockets show Willis also faces three felony charges of manufacturing, delivery or possession with intent to deliver, three felony counts of criminal use of communication facility, three counts of intent to possess a controlled substance and three counts of use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
