With the opening of Lakemont Park’s “Lights on the Lake” last week comes another timeless area holiday attraction with the Altoona Model Train Museum Association’s annual holiday train display.

The display is truly a sight to behold, containing several thousand individual pieces that have been combined to create a breathtaking animated world.

Adding to the sense of wonderment is the fact that the train platform is only available for view by the public for six short weeks every year.

The train display is available for viewing each night, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., until January 8th, inside Lakemont Park’s gift shop annex.

Admission is free with the purchase of a pass to “Lights on the Lake.”

The Altoona Model Train Museum Association gladly accepts donations, so they can continue to expand their offerings, both at the holiday exhibit and at their museum space located along 9th Avenue.
